For the People Project: mason jar candles

Good Morning friends! You know how much I like to buy for a good cause…

So when I found these candles handcrafted by the For the People Project, I pounced right on them. Each candle is packaged in an American-made glass mason jar with handle and gives 100 hours of burn time. And that’s not all! Check out the cute kraft label with original artwork, explanation of the cause and scripture reference.

I love the rich color in the Harvest Blessings candle, which smells of pumpkin, cinnamon and gingerbread. yum. yum. yum!

Oh, and this one smells of buttercream. Yes please.

Candles are brand new to their product line, they also sell hand made cards, journals, and gift tags.  You can read more about them below and orders your candles here.

“For The People Project is part of a non-profit organization that employs recovering drug and alcohol addicts to individually hand paint and hand stamp its Hand Made Card, Journal and Gift Tag lines. We not only provide a job for those working to overcome life controlling addictions, but we also teach life skills that our employees will use as they transition back into society following addiction rehabilitation.”

Coffee for a Cause with Gobena

I would like to introduce you to an amazing ministry I found recently.

Gobena coffee was created after a 2007 trip to Africa by Steve and Danae Lehman.

Their daughter Eva was found by a 71-year-old man, Gobena, in a yard near his home, and was cared for by he and his wife before giving her up for adoption.  You can read more about their amazing journey here.

After returning, they created Gobena Coffee to raise support for orphans. Currently they work  in Ethopia, and God is using their ministry to accomplish some amazing things and bring glory to His name .

I think coffee is a great gift, especially for guys…since they don’t usually want homemade sugar scrub and heart lovelies:)

I bought this for my brother-in-law’s birthday this month.  His family (that would be my frequently blogged about sister and her kids), all went to Guatemala last year on a mission trip, so I knew he would like this blend.

Plus, the proceeds benefit orphans, how’s that for perfect.

You must check out Gobena Coffee.  They also sell shirts and mugs and other funness.

100cameras: great photography for a greater cause

I am so inspired by this organization. 100cameras has a simple two-fold purpose-to let precious orphans living in adverse circumstances have an outlet and expression through photography, and to give financially to their orphanage. They partner with orphanages, teach a child or teen to use the camera, and then let them chronicle their life for a week. They take photos of whatever they want, home, family, friends, food. Then 100cameras sells the photos and sends 100% of the proceeds back to the orphanage.

What an amazing piece for your home, or to give. I love the visual reminder of these precious children.

Global Girlfriend: A Greater Good Store

Visit this women-made, eco-friendly, free-trade store, Global Girlfriend. Not only can you buy great accessories, gifts, papers and clothing, but you can also give to the artisan’s community. Shoes, education, food, animals, teacher’s salaries, teddy bears for kids, the list goes on and on. You know by now that I am a huge fan of handmade gifts, so this site fits right in.

I found these cards that I love. Check out the good that your money funds.

“Handmade from recycled paper by Prokritee, a Bangladeshi women’s organization that provides jobs to widows, divorcees and heads-of-household with little or no income. By providing employment to these rural women, this beneficial organization is able to improve their employee’s standard of living and help them send their children to school — enabling all to look toward the future with hope and happiness, versus poverty and despair.”
