So we know that red and green are opposite each other on the color wheel, which means they usually produce a happy little combo. If you are ever stuck on a color scheme, try looking to nature for just the right blend of shades (darker values) and tints (lighter values), to produce something other than a Christmas extravaganza!
This nice watermelon has a vibrant red, a washed out almost pink red, dark green, lime green, soft green, and white accents. It would have black, but it’s seedless :) Not only does it make a yummy treat, but also a yummy room.

I have been searching for inspiration for color for my family room. HERE IT IS! Thank you so much for nailing this right on the head. I love reds and greens but want to avoid the Chrismasty thing. My dining room is painted celery green, my kitchen and family room both contain red as accent colors. Incorporating the green into the family room, especially the lighter shade, will tie these spaces together. Thanks for posting! Found you via Pinterest.
